Troop fundraising without the cash envelope
Youth fundraising has a wrinkle no other kind has: the people doing the selling are children, and the people accountable for the money are not. Moving entries somewhere visible means the scouts still do the work and the committee still has a record.
Free for up to 100 entrants. No subscriptions.
What usually goes wrong
-
Cash and kids do not mix
Envelopes going home in backpacks is how youth fundraising money goes missing. A shared link means nobody is carrying cash door to door.
-
Families sell to their own circles
Grandparents two states away can enter the same drawing as the neighbours. Each scout shares the same link and the entries all land in one list.
-
The committee needs a record
Every entry is timestamped and the totals are live. When the treasurer reconciles at the next committee meeting, the numbers are already there.
Three steps, start to finish
-
1
Give every family the link
One signup link, shared by every scout to their own family and neighbours.
-
2
Draw at the meeting
Run the draw at the troop meeting or the court of honor, with the scouts watching.
-
3
Hand the record to the committee
The entry list and audit trail are ready for the treasurer without anyone counting stubs.
Every draw ships with its own proof
The winner and a SHA-256 hash of the draw publish together. Anyone can re-run the computation and confirm the same name comes out — no one has to take your word for it.

Scouts & youth groups, specifically
- Do we have to collect any information about the scouts?
- No. Entrants are the people entering the drawing — typically parents, relatives and neighbours. You decide what the signup form asks for, so collect only what you need.
- Can each scout track what they sold?
- The simplest approach is one raffle for the troop with everyone sharing the same link. If you need per-scout attribution, run a raffle per patrol or den and keep them side by side in the dashboard.
- Is it suitable for a pack with young children?
- The software is used by the adult running the fundraiser, not by the children. Scouts share the link; the committee manages the raffle and the draw.
- Does it cost the troop anything?
- Not for a drawing with up to 100 entrants. Larger ones are a one-time $25 for that raffle, which adds unlimited entrants, CSV export for the treasurer, multiple winners and new signup alerts. No subscription.
