The problem

Most raffles can’t prove they’re fair

The technical details

How verification works

We use the same cryptographic techniques trusted by banks and casinos.

    Secret seed committed

    A random server seed is generated at creation and its SHA-256 hash is published before entries open.

    Entries recorded

    All participants are added. The entry list is locked and timestamped.

  3. 3

    Winner calculated

    The revealed seed and the entrant list derive a draw seed, which maps to a winning slot.

  4. 4

    Anyone can verify

    All inputs are revealed. Anyone can recalculate and confirm the result.

Why SHA-256?

A commitment scheme needs a function nobody can work backwards from and nobody can find two inputs for. SHA-256 is the standard choice: publishing the hash of a seed pins that seed down without revealing it, so when the seed is published later, everyone can confirm it is the one that was committed to and not a substitute picked afterwards.
